Secretary Johnson  & Commander John K. Lopez at 2008 SARA Awards
Secretary Johnson Awards the first annual "John K. Lopez Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence" to John K. Lopez, Commander Post 236 and Chairman of the Association for Service Disabled Veterans (ASDV).
 

Tom Johnson, Secretary of Veterans Affairs, presented the first "John K. Lopez Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence" to John K. Lopez, Chairman of the Association for Service Disabled Veterans and Commander of American Legion Enterprise Post 236 during the “2008 California SARA Awards” ceremony in Sacramento, California.

"In recognition of the profound and positive impact the achievements of John K. Lopez have had on the well being of an infinite number of service disabled veterans and their families", "the pioneering legislation that was initiated by your efforts" and your founding leadership of "The National Task Force for Veterans' Entrepreneurship, Washington, D.C." and "The California DVBE Alliance, Sacramento, California", all who have benefited from your effort acknowledge and commend you for your leadership, selfless tenacity of purpose, wisdom and vision."

The award will be presented annually at the State of California "SARA Awards" to a service disabled veteran owned business to honor the achievements of John K. Lopez.

Post 236 is working to collaborate with the VA Healthcare system to increase participation in Research projects conducted by the VA.Initiative 1: Outreach for Veteran Participation in Clinical HIV/HCV research Trial at VA Healthcare Facilities. To read more and/or download brochure, click here.
Virtual Help Center-Coming Soon!
In conjunction with ASDV, Post 236 is set to implement a Veterans' "Virtual Help Center", a clearing house of benefits and resources for Veterans. In addition to providing a 'one stop' listing of resources for Veterans, the Virtual Help Center will document sorely needed statistics on Veterans' needs.
